The sea was a fiery lady, whose secrets lurked deep beneath the water's surface. She held treasures many could only dream of and dangers encountered only in the darkest dreams. Sometimes she was as gentle and loving as a lover, other times as deadly and furious as only the devil could be

And tonight she was the latter

The men's commands cut through the rain that lashed mercilessly against the deck, the thunder rumbled, and the high waves swallowed everything in their path. Sailors rushed back and forth to stabilize the ropes, their clothes soaked and the taste of saltwater in their mouths

Edward barked orders as he steered the Jackdaw through the waves as smoothly as possible. After all, if there was one thing he was, it was a devilishly good sailor

The gentle sound of a melodious voice reached the sailors' ears before a man was suddenly ripped from the ship. And soon a roar tore his attention away from the waves

"Man overboard!"

One of the sailors screamed as he saw the fallen man being tossed about by the waves as he desperately tried to stay afloat...but everyone knew: Once you fell in, it was a death sentence
