Clouse smiled thinly as Jay stepped onto the dock. “Master Chen will be pleased you accepted his invitation. A Master of Spinjitzu always fares well in the Tournament.”
“We’re not here to fight,” Jay said quickly. “We’re here to save a friend.”
“Everyone here fights for something,” Clouse replied, calmly plucking Jay’s nunchucks from his hands. Jay hesitated only a moment before tossing them into the sea with a nervous laugh.
Before the ship could depart, a familiar voice cut through the air.
“Lloyd, wait.”
Garmadon emerged from the shadows. Lloyd turned, stunned. “What are you doing here, Dad?”
“Warning you,” Garmadon said. “Master Chen is dangerous. Whatever he promised you—don’t believe it.”
Clouse bowed mockingly. “Lord Garmadon. Or is it Sensei now?”
“I see you’re still running errands,” Garmadon replied coldly.
Lloyd clenched his fists. “This is about Zane. About family. I have to go.”
Clouse called for final boarding. When he claimed the ship was full, Garmadon simply kicked a thug overboard and stepped on. “I’m not here to compete,” he said. “Only to watch my interests.”
As the ship sailed, the ninja observed the other competitors displaying strange abilities.
“You know him?” Lloyd asked quietly.
“Clouse is a Master of Dark Arts,” Garmadon answered. “Chen’s second-in-command.”
Kai frowned. “Why didn’t you or Wu ever tell us there were others like us?”
“Because you were meant to believe you were unique,” Garmadon said. “Every fighter here is descended from an original Elemental Master—guardians of the First Spinjitzu Master. Their powers were passed down through generations.”
Jay blinked. “So… I’m not special?”
“So says the Master of Lightning,” Garmadon replied.
Kai thought of his sister. “Then Nya should have powers too.”
“Power lies within all of you,” Garmadon said. “It only needs awakening.”
He gestured to a pale man who vanished in plain sight, then to a boy who sprinted past in a blur. “Light. Speed. They unlocked their true potential without serving anyone.”
“And her?” Kai asked, noticing a cloaked girl.
“Unknown,” Garmadon said. “But make no mistake—they will all be hunting you. Honor means little here.”
A sudden commotion drew Kai’s attention. A massive fighter with metal hands cornered the girl.
“It’s fine,” she said calmly.
“Karlof want cloak,” the brute growled.
Kai stepped in. “Why don’t you leave her alone?”
“These crush ninja,” Karlof warned, lifting him effortlessly.
“Any time now,” Kai grunted.
Karlof scowled. “You say Karlof not smart?"
