The Ninja Turtles were patrolling the rooftops of New York on a quiet night when something in the shadows caught their attention. They stopped dead in their tracks, their senses on alert. Wasting no time, the four brothers drew their weapons: Leonardo with his katanas, Raphael with his sais, Donatello brandishing his bō, and Michelangelo twirling his nunchucks, ready to take on whatever lurked in the shadows.
“Whatever it is, it’s close,” Raphael murmured, his green eyes shining in the moonlight.
Instead of an enemy, what appeared before them was a black cat with green eyes as bright and sharp as Raphael’s own. The cat slowly advanced, moving with the grace and stealth of a hunter.
“It’s just a cat,” Leonardo said, lowering his weapons.
Michelangelo took a step towards the animal with a smile. “It’s a cat! And it’s female. Ice Cream Kitty already has a friend!”
Ice Cream Kitty, Mikey’s mutant female cat, had been accidentally created when she was a stray cat who was exposed to mutagen and ice cream in Donatello’s lab when April brought her to be taken care of by the turtles. She was now a creature made of melted Neapolitan ice cream in the shape of a cat, living in the lair’s freezer and melting away from its cold environment. Michelangelo always looked after her, but now he imagined a possible companion for her.
“Look, she’s even a little fat,” Mikey commented, moving closer to the cat. He tried to kiss her belly playfully. But the cat, offended and frightened, reacted by scratching Michelangelo's arm with a quick movement of her claws.
“Ouch! What was that?” Michelangelo exclaimed, backing away while rubbing his arm.
Donatello, watching calmly, tilted his head as he examined the cat. “She's pregnant, Mikey. That's why I didn't want you to get so close.”
Michelangelo blinked, surprised, while Raphael crossed his arms and smiled. “It seems that even cats have more common sense than you, Mikey.”
