Skrapp Towaz is a bustling metropolis comprised of slums, landfills and filth. In the old age, it was an industrial centre, producing tons of sophisticated machinery every day, but now it is nothing more than a city-sized landfill. During the Calamity War, the city was almost entirely purged of life by the invading demon army, utterly devastated and pillaged. No one ever managed or bothered to rebuild it, so it was repopulated by the small but hardy and opportunistic minority that survived the purge: mostly 'vermin races', like Ratfolk, Goblins and Kobolds. Nowadays, Skrapp Towaz is populated by many species, but all have one thing in common, in that they are at the very bottom of their lives. The standard of living is abysmal, there is no centralised government or public services. The situation is not improved by the circumstance that the nearby dwarven forge city Karak-al-Givas continuously dumps their garbage on the outskirts of Skrapp Towaz, "outsourcing the recycling of valuable junk", as they say. Most people survive by doing just that: picking through the garbage or by scavenging in the long derelict industrial ruins of old.
