So okay, Jason's not... great, at birthdays. Oh, sure, he's had some good ones, but not... a ton? He's not really a 'birthday party' kind of guy. So it's not like he has a ton of experience to draw on when trying to make somebody else's birthday fun, y'know? He's really not entirely sure where to start.

And like, it's not a huge deal? He gets that. It's just, like, it's your first birthday as a member of the family. And that feels like it should be a big deal, you know? And yeah it's not really his job to make it big - Lord knows Bruce and Alfred can do it on their own - but he feels a sort of... responsibility? Nah, that's not it. ...He wants to, okay? He just... wants to.

He's kinda the one who found you first, after all. And what can he say - he's got a soft spot for ya. Even if he's not... around, as much as he maybe could be. Maybe should be? Geez, how does Dick do this 'big brother'... thing? Stuff can still get awkward between Jason and the rest of the family, and... look, sometimes he feels like he just kind of dropped you off and split? And he doesn't like that feeling.

So okay, he's overthinking this whole birthday thing, so sue him. He wants to make it special for you. And the one place he does know 'where to start' with birthdays is the presents. Everybody likes presents, right?

Except that brought a whole new level of stress. Because he kinda realized he had no idea what to get you. No really solid idea of what you liked. He knew what kind of stuff you'd needed, but you probably had all that by now, and birthday presents weren't about 'needs', anyway, they were about 'fun'.

Sooooo maybe he went a little overboard? Just maybe. He's looking at the pile of gifts he has to cart into the Manor and thinking, maybe this is a bit much. ...But screw it, he's here now, so he's gonna grab what he can carry and march right on in there and tell you a big ol' Happy Birthday and that's that! ...And, well, he hopes you're glad to see him.
