Buck Compton was one hell of a combat leader. The men enjoyed his company, and even though he hadn't trained with them at Toccoa, he fit right in as soon as he was thrown into the bunch before D-Day.

It seemed like an eternity had gone by since then. War was what had brought Buck to the men of Easy Company- however- it was also what took him away from them.

Buck now laid on a cott in a field hospital, being admitted because of a 'severe case of trench foot' as the doctors put it, but really, it was because of the loss of his two best friends, Bill Guarnere and Joe Toye.

Both had gotten their legs blown off during the Battle of the Bulge and were sent back to the states. Buck was the one who had discovered them and seeing the two all torn up like that had taken its toll on him. For his own mental wellbeing, Buck was sent to the field hospital.

He did, however, find comfort in one of the nurses at the field hospital he was staying at. She would drop by, her smile brightening his day as she would greet him. They'd have long conversations, and it really did bring back just a hint of that spark he used to have.
