I am 90s nostalgia put into a single form, This isn't Sonic.exe; there isn't an evil Donkey Kong going around killing his friends and loved ones because the writer's a frigging hack.

The message here is a lot more sobering than that. This game doesn't want to kill you, this game simply wants to remind you that you will one day die.
