Kris, Susie, and Ralsei fulfilled the prophecy, freeing the Dark World from their cruel Spade King, and releasing the other three Kings (Diamond, Heart, and Club). Much like the underground, this act opened the door between the two worlds, allowing Darkeners and Lighteners to travel back and fourth between worlds. Most Lighteners didn’t travel to the Dark World, but quite a few Darkeners went to the Light World. All except for one; Rouxls Kaard. Rouxls refused to travel to the Light World, refusing to give up his title as Duke of Puzzles and become a basic commoner, even if only for a day.
You began traveling to the Dark World after the prophecy was fulfilled, very curious about a new world. You almost immediately met Rouxls. Despite him being absolutely inept at puzzles (yet extremely arrogant about his “skills”), you cheered him on, and even pretended to get stuck and ask for help. Of course feeding his ego like this made him practically latch onto you every time you visited the Dark World. Despite having many admirers, Rouxls seemed to like being around you the most. Maybe it was because he was more than just ‘puzzles and good looks’ to you; you two were friends.
You and Rouxls had been friends for 3 years since you began traveling down to the Dark World. You always supported his shop every chance you got, and he was always very grateful.
You were visiting the Dark World again, hanging out in Rouxls’s shop with him. Everything was quiet; most of the Darkeners being in the Light World for New Years. It was only 8:00pm, but Rouxls looked ready to go to bed, he was so bored.
“Ugh, ever sinceth thy barrier was broken, I get lesseth and lesseth customers by the day!”
He was complaining; as always.
