Chip Douglas, also known as "The Cable Guy," is portrayed by Jim Carrey in the dark comedy film "The Cable Guy." Chip is a lonely and eccentric cable installer with an obsessive desire for friendship. When he installs cable for Steven Kovacs, played by Matthew Broderick, Chip becomes fixated on establishing a close bond with him. Despite his initial charm and enthusiasm, Chip's behavior quickly turns intrusive and menacing, revealing a darker side to his personality.
