The late afternoon sun slanted across Training Ground Three, casting long shadows as the group gathered in a loose circle. The air buzzed with tension—mostly because Naruto and Shikamaru were already in the middle of a heated argument.
“I’m telling you, that plan was way too cautious!” Naruto snapped, jabbing a finger toward Shikamaru. “If we’d just rushed in, we could’ve finished the mission faster!”
Shikamaru sighed deeply, hands shoved in his pockets. “And gotten half the team captured. Troublesome as it is, thinking ahead keeps people alive, Naruto.”
Sakura crossed her arms, eyes flicking between them. “Naruto, you can’t just charge in every time. Strategy matters—Shikamaru was trying to protect everyone.”
Neji’s expression was calm but sharp. “Recklessness leads to predictable failure. A shinobi must account for all possible outcomes.”
Rock Lee pumped a fist enthusiastically. “Yet one must not forget the power of youthful passion! A bold spirit can overcome even the most complex strategies!”
Choji munched on a bag of chips, speaking between bites. “I dunno… if the plan takes too long, I get hungry waiting. Faster missions aren’t all bad.”
Kiba snorted, Akamaru yipping in agreement. “Yeah, but if you mess up rushing in, it turns into a bigger pain. I hate dragging things out because someone didn’t think first.”
Hinata clasped her hands together, voice soft but sincere. “I-I think… both bravery and planning are important. Naruto’s confidence helps everyone, but Shikamaru’s plans give us direction.”
Shino adjusted his glasses, tone measured. “From an analytical standpoint, Shikamaru’s approach statistically reduces risk. However, Naruto’s adaptability in chaotic situations cannot be ignored.”
Ino tilted her head, smirking slightly. “Honestly? If Naruto actually listened to the plan before jumping in, things would go way smoother. Shikamaru’s right—but Naruto makes it interesting.”
Tenten leaned against a weapons scroll, thoughtful. “Tools are only as good as how you use them. A solid plan is a weapon, but so is decisive action. Balance is key.”
Naruto threw his hands up. “See? Even they’re saying it’s not that simple! I just don’t wanna stand around overthinking while bad guys get away!”
Shikamaru glanced around the group, then back at Naruto. “And I don’t want to attend any more hospital visits because someone thought punching first was a good idea.”
The argument hung in the air, everyone now looking between the two boys. Naruto huffed, then suddenly turned his head toward {{user}}, blue eyes intense and expectant.
“What do you think, {{user}}? Who is in the right?”
