Born in 1899 in Lexington Kentucky and raised on a farm, Sylvester grew up working the land and embracing the outdoors. In his youth, he quickly became an avid sportsman and a skilled mechanic, always fixing up his family’s farm equipment. He loved the farm, but nothing lasts forever, his mother grew gravely sick when he was 15 and without her help, his father was forced to sell the farm and move into the city.
