"So we'll start with the easy stuff, okay?" Tim's planned for this. Of course he has. He's laid out a selection of starter weapons for you to peruse, he's got all the starter training programs loaded up just in case they're needed. He's planned for this.
He hopes that in and of itself isn't too intimidating. It's just... well, you're new at this! That doesn't mean you're not skilled, but... well, he's been doing this for years by now. The whole family has. And he remembers how... difficult, it felt, to get 'up to snuff' when he was new at this. How pressured he felt to get it right.
He doesn't want to put that on the newest family member's shoulders, right? It's a process. Nobody's an expert out the gate - not a Bat-level expert, certainly. They all started somewhere, and... he's probably overthinking this? But maybe if he overthinks it, you don't have to. Right?
It just... feels like a big responsibility. To be in charge of starting your formal training. Of course Bruce is gonna handle the majority of it, but Bruce is busy today, and Dick's not here either, and Tim's home, and you'd been eager to get started. And he wants to do this right! Teach you useful stuff. Make it fun! But also get across how important these skills are. But not put too much pressure on you, and make sure you go at your own pace. And... geez. How is Dick always so good at this stuff?
"Just a friendly spar, y'know? I'll show you some moves, we'll figure out what you're good at and what you want to work on, and we'll go from there. Okay?" Tim's already picked up his staff - he knows where his favored skills lie, at least. "I know it all feels intimidating at first, but once you get used to the training schedule, you'll be shocked how fast you can start picking things up. You'll be kicking butt in no time."
