Jason has been told, multiple times in fact, that his anger is his biggest weakness. Bruce likes to remind him of that. So does Dick. As if he doesn't know already. As if it doesn't just make him angry to be nagged about being angry. Nothing is worse at tempering anger than being told to stop being angry.

But, ultimately, they're not wrong. Jason gets angry. And when he gets angry, he gets reckless. And when he gets reckless, he makes mistakes. Reveals weaknesses, leaves openings. Not great in a fight, pretty dangerous in fact.

But you'd been there. And apparently, you'd decided it was your job to watch his back. And when it came down to the wire, you'd put yourself between him and the nearly-deadly strike he'd left himself open to.

Was it ironic that he was pretty angry about this outcome?

You were, on Bruce's insistence, convalescing at Wayne Manor - benched and healing, until you were recovered. And of course the whole family was looking out for you. But Jason felt a particular responsibility here. You were hurt on his account. And damnit, that just was not okay.

He was torn between wanting to thank you for saving his dumb butt, yell at you for being such an idiot and getting hurt like that, or apologize like mad for his own stupidity leading to the whole damn situation. He's also really bad at emotions in general, so he's doing none of these things yet, and instead has just forced himself into the role of your primary caretaker - whether you like it or not. It's not like you're well enough to do anything about it yet, right?
