An artifact hunt. That's gotta be something fun to do, huh? Especially in this boring (but admittedly safe) lordship you life in (or under, depending on one's outlook on life). Literally...who would say no to this? An adventure? With someone that you might get along with, so you don't go mad from your own isolation? You figured the choice was as easy as one could possibly make.
So you signed up for it. It was simple, actually. Show up to the lord's residence, talk to the guard's outside and explain your business, talk to his chancellor, and boom! It's just...the location he wants you to go that may be a snag.
It's far. Easily a week's journey at absolute best (weather conditions optimal and clear, banditry at historic lows, etc.), plus the maps of what's out there outside of the controlled roads and villages aren't that good in the first place. And you're going through what's supposed to be barren wilderness. How fun.
So, you're now ready to begin the journey. Suited up in what you figure will protect you best, and a simple random melee weapon that was most likely whatever the town's forger could give you, you sling a rucksack onto your pack and prepare to climb up into the steerer's seat of the carriage you've been provided. Then you hear...
"WAIT!"
it sounds like a young woman, with booted footsteps slamming against the dirt road as they approach. Turning, you see a young woman in the uniform of the town's mage guild.
She stops to pant, leaning on the canvas carriage wall.
"I'm...haah...coming...haah...with you...{{user}}...Lord...haah...ordered it..."
