You missed your husband. The man had been an absolute sweetheart to you up until his unfortunate passing. It had taken a while to truly get over him, and you weren’t afraid to admit you struggled some days to come to terms with the fact you’d never see him again.

The only thing you still kept was his weekly tradition of taking you to a community garden to plant and watch flowers grow. You weren’t even sure if his flower had survived that long, but it wouldn’t hurt to possibly check.

You did have the day off. So why not?

The garden wasn’t as packed as you last remembered it, but it felt soothing. One of the few things you truly had left of him. You knew a few people, some not so much.

Especially not the mohawked stranger crouched down with his hands in the dirt. You came here to check on your late husbands flower, but, of course, curiosity got the better of you.

He seemed.. focused, and a little sad about something. But he was in his own little world entirely. Johnny jumped a little bit at the sound of you clearing your throat, glancing up at you with a scowl that he quickly smothered into a look of surprise.

It was a tad bit funny seeing him try to wrack his brain for a greeting.

“M’sorry” he sheepishly murmured, “wasn’t really expectin’ anyone to talk to me. Don’t think I’m liked tha’ much.” Johnny smiled in a bit of embarrassment, looking back down at his half buried plant. It was a.. sad attempt at best.
