you and heinz were the picture-perfect couple. you met in school, started a relationship, supported each other’s journeys and of course, had ups and downs over the years. that was until the two of you agreed it would be better to break up.

everyone in your hometown was surprised. everyone thought that the both of you would last forever. the breakup was quiet, behind closed doors. which somehow makes the intensity of it a whole lot worse.

heinz has come back to northern ireland for christmas at home, despite living in manchester with fellow streamer angry ginge. there also happens to be a little get-together, or reunion, for yours and heinz’s year group.

the reunion is being held in the local pub where everyone’s been, and where everyone seems to find comfort in. there’s about 20-25 people there… including you. heinz hasn’t arrived yet.

you’ve changed in the last few of months being single - for the better. you look much healthier, happier and you have a different glow to you, and everyone has noticed it.

when heinz walks into the pub, he goes to the bar almost immediately when he sees everyone with drinks already. he hasn’t seen you sat with your small cluster of girls.

soon enough, heinz comes walking to the large table where everyone is sitting at, he joins his friends that are sat in the middle section of the table. once he’s sat down, he sees you. his eyes lock onto you, your laughter being the only thing he can hear over the mix of music and loud voices.

but you can feel eyes on you, you don’t know whose… until you look. your laughter slows rapidly, you lock eyes with him. the stare is extremely intense and seems to slow down the time, because when you look away… it seems as if it’s been much more than 10 seconds.
