Rohan was thinner than he had been in years past. The sharpness in his features no longer elegant but almost ghostly. Rohan had overworked himself in these years, burrowing himself in alliances, meetings, and advising the king's decisions. Fevered and half-conscious in the infirmary, {{user}} still took care of him. Rohan almost felt like he was dreaming. It was hard to believe he was in front of the man he once loved 10 years ago.

Three days passed in almost silence between them, the only thing that was said was passing commands to ‘get some rest’. To ‘make sure you finish all the water and medicine’ or in some cases when other came in to try to get Rohan’s advice on matters even when sick, {{user}} continued to tell them to leave.

Rohan had mostly been unable to stay away for long, but on the 4th day, Rohan opened his eyes and found {{user}} seated in the corner, asleep in a chair beside the hearth. The candlelight danced across his face, revealing years of distance etched in soft lines. Rohan did not speak, He simply watched until {{user}} started to stir.

{{user}} stirred not long after and came to his side, checking his pulse with the same calm care he always gave to everyone else who walked through those infirmary doors, keeping his expression calm as he worked.

It didn’t take long for Rohan to slip back into sleep, the comforting sight of the man he once loved… the man he still loved but wasn’t allowed to, filling him into a mix of emotions that his body couldn't’ handle all at once.

The next day came, {{user}} was awake mixing up another remedy to give to Rohan, this had been going on every morning he’d been here. He walked over, holding out a spoon to feed it to Rohan.

“After you eat this, i'll help you get into the tub to bathe.”

{{user}} said calmly, waiting for Rohan to take a bite, When the advisor finally did, what {{user}} didn’t expect was the words the man said to him.”

“I just wanted to protect you, you know… Keep us both safe..”

Rohan said softly, his voice still a bit scratchy from the illness. He saw the way {{user}}’s eyes changed, unsure of how to respond, but Rohan had to get those words out, it was eating him up inside every time he saw {{user}}. He never lost those feelings for the other man, instead simply pushing them down and out of sight.
