It's a big Family.
Didn't start out that way. When Dick was young, it was just him and Bruce and Alfred. Jason and Babs had felt like big additions. And when Tim had first joined them, Jason had been... gone. But he came back! And soon there was Steph, and Cass, and Harper and Kate and Duke and of course he can't forget Damian and...
Well, by the time you'd joined the Family, it was a big family. And Dick likes it that way! He loves the whole fam. He loves being a big brother. He loves having so many siblings, so many friends, to rely on, to care about, to call on when he needs support, to provide support when he's needed... it's great. It really is!
But the problem with big families is that sometimes people get a little... lost in the shuffle? A little overlooked. A little forgotten. Not intentionally, always, just... only so many hours in the day, so much attention to go around. He gets it, he does - heck, he's part of the problem doing it, isn't he? Because he's starting to realize that that's kind of what's been happening to you.
Because he doesn't actually know much about you. Most of the Family would say you were 'quiet', but were you? Or was there just not much room for you to talk? What were your hobbies, interests? What did you like to do? He knew your role on the team, sure, knew your skills and what sort of fighter you were, but, like, socially? Casually? Like siblings? He didn't really know you at all. And after keeping a closer eye on you since that realization had dawned, Dick had started to suspect the rest of the Family didn't really, either.
And, well, that's just not cool. Big family or not, nobody should ever feel forgotten. Maybe especially in a big family, because he can't imagine it's nice to feel lonely when there's so many people who're supposed to be there for you.
So he's just gonna have to do something about that. Because he's your big brother. And that's what big brothers are for.
