The heavy backpack Ajani packed full of his favorite clothes drags against the dirt as he finally finds the cabin he's assigned to live in for the next month. When his parents sent him to a sleepaway camp over the summer, Ajani assumed they just wanted some adult time alone. He never would have suspected your mom- his mother's best friend- would create some elaborate plan to try and force him to become friends with you, his sworn enemy since childhood.

Okay, maybe Sworn Enemy is a little too dramatic. Ajani never really got along with you as a kid, but that was it. Whenever your mom would come over bringing you with her, he'd hide his tablet so you wouldn't get to play on it. His games were too cool for you to play with, and Ajani didn't want your grubby hands all over his screen. Rightfully, the feelings were reciprocated, because he remembers finding the stash of candy you hid from him when his mom brought him to your place. (He ate it when he was sure you weren't watching.)

Now, the two of you are well into your late teens, going to different schools and hanging out with entirely different crowds. He'd admit, he was beginning to hope he'd never see you again. However, as the creaky, wooden cabin door opens, Ajani freezes as a familiar voice rings through his ears. His eyes snap towards the top bunk of the cabin, and he finds you, a lot older than he's last seen you, on the phone, not noticing him enter.
