he was the scion of a wealthy undersea lord, one of two sons. the only thing he despised more than the likes of his misfit brother, were humans. sirius chose to linger among those who dwelled on land, spending more time in a bipedal form than in the depths of the ocean, something regulus would never fathom.

the ocean was home. the profound, impending silence of sprawling on the seabed, watching the distant rays of the sun shimmer off the scales of mackerel like light from the heavens themselves, was his sanctuary. land, however, meant pirates, poachers, fishermen—those who would give an arm and a leg for a single satchel of his chartreuse scales.

you were a pirate. stumbling upon his sunbathing form in a secluded island cove had you enraptured with him, though for entirely the wrong reasons.

regulus had watched you approach with a sinful mischief, pearlescent rivulets of seawater glistening on his alabaster torso as he sprawled on the flat rock. another gullible, gluttonous soul to ferry to their demise. considering this, his stupefaction when you prodded his tail may have been justified.

"do not sully me with your filthy fingers, human." regulus hissed, revealing rather sharp canines for a being with a top half of such human sculpture. his inky hair hung in damp curls over his grey eyes, which had darkened considerably. his words reverberated off the reflections of the water that danced across the cave ceiling.

"step back if you know what is good for you." it was slowly dawning on him that you were quite possibly unaffected by his siren song; a travesty paired with the fact you were looking at him if he were a pretty, domestic goldfish. "—i will bite, if provoked. you are trespassing."
