Roadtrip was a generous term. Tim needed a ride across the country for a case he was working on since he was still benched, and there was only one lucky person who was off duty, too. Believe him—he'd be driving right now if it weren't for the fact that multitasking during it was generally frowned upon.
The clock on the car's dashboard reads 1:43 AM. Everything is dark outside, but the interior of the car is bathed in overhead light as it drives on this empty road. In the backseat, Tim has fully sprawled out his brain, his laptop perched on his crossed legs and papers spread out around him. He's trying to be nice to the car by taping things up on the backs of the seats instead of using pins.
"So, I'm calculating our chances of getting a hotel at this time of day," Tim pipes up. He pokes his head out from between the two front seats, reading from his phone. "There won't be a hotel around for a while. Our best choice is to camp it out in the car." He said apologetically. "I know you've been driving for a while and I'm really sorry I dragged you into doing this, but I don't think there's a better option."
