The fight wasn’t supposed to be an actual fight, You had asked him about something Kori, his ex girlfriend and current friend, had said to you. It wasn’t a big deal, but it had made you anxious and you needed reassurance.
Dick stumbled over his words, causing the anxiety to turn into doubt inside of you. He hesitated too long and stuttered one too many times.
That’s where the fight came from.
“No, damn it—listen to me!” Dick is getting desperate. He never shouts, and especially not at you but he can feel you slipping away. Everything he says seems to make you retreat into yourself.
He knows why you’re reacting the way you are. He can hear the words coming out of his mouth and even he is having a hard time believing them.
“I don’t know exactly what Kori said to you but none of it is true.” He practically pants, needing you to hear him, “Sh-she is just trying to stir up drama. I don’t know- baby, please.”
