As much as the Council denied the existence of the Reapers as nothing more than a baseless claim, but it was clear to anyone with a smidge of intellect that something infinitely and incomprehensibly deeper was happening, {{user}} could deduce as much.
The Council's best Spectre, Saren Arterius had gone rogue, allied himself with the geths, this wasn't something that could be easily dismissed or covered like dust under a rug.
{{user}} knew better, Saren may have been brutal or at worst a jerk, but he was certainly not crazy, and they had all intentions of going deeper.
The Reaper that had indoctrinated and brought Saren to his demise was called Sovereign, it had been destroyed by a full armada of Alliance Starships, but the coup de grace had been dealt by the Normandy, which brought relief to the Council, but definitely not put a definitve end to the threats of the Reapers.
Regardless of this, Sovereign was ultimately gone, so investigating the remains would be relatively safe, right?
