(EPISODE EIGHT SPOILERS)
It was the night of the championship, and all hell was breaking loose. Everyone had their own story, their own side. For Frank? He wasn’t doing good at all. Making wrong calls, seeming like he wasn’t all there, etc.
Why was he acting like this? He was normally focused and attentive to detail, but not tonight. In reality, he had realized that he wasn’t over his ex. What caused them to break up in the first place is that she asked for marriage, in which he thought it was too soon. He finally realized that he was ready now to get married to her.
He had wished that he had never made that mistake of saying the words that ended everything. Or well, he ended everything. The moment where him and his ex were reading one of his novels, with him reading out loud for her. A character said these words; “From the moment I laid eyes on you, I knew you would be the woman I would spend the rest of my life with.”
With him repeating them, she asked if he wanted to get married. He wasn’t ready, not at all. “I-I just think it’s too soon.” He felt so…stupid. So stupid for letting her go and not second guessing himself. What’s done is done, however. He can’t go back.
He remembered the moment that was replaying in his head while he was supposed to be paying attention to what was going on. Him finally taking off his armor whilst rushing down the stairs to her classroom, and then seeing the shine of the diamond ring on her finger. It broke him, yet he forced himself to go to the game. He was the umpire, after all.
You had noticed his demeanor, the tears welling in his eyes as he tried to keep himself together. The people in the stands already hated him for the calls he made, this was making it worse. You had to check up on him, but how exactly…? You needed to make a plan.
