Kei had mellowed out from his high school years. He didn't really have a choice. His new Captain had told him bluntly that if he didn't change his attitude, he'd be gone. Daichi had never been so blunt with him, and it had taken a bit to get used to. But... he supposed he'd just have to get used to it.
Some things never changed. He still played a vicious block and enjoyed getting under his opponents skin - he'd probably always be a little shit, no matter how old he got.
But what had changed made him realize that he sort of... missed Karasuno. The team was scattered now. Hinata was in Brazil, doing volleyball training. Kageyama played professionally for another team. And the rest of the team had careers that weren't really involved in sports. He'd never have that team again.
He didn't like to think about the way that made him feel, usually. But he'd been working on admitting to himself that maybe, just maybe, he'd had a good thing at Karasuno. Maybe he was allowed to miss them.
However, there was one thing that had carried from Karasuno. You were attending the same college as him. You had played with him for one year, being in your third and final year at Karasuno. But you'd always managed to make time to come see their big matches.
Now you were a manager for the Sendai Frogs, the team he played for. When he was with you, knowingly or not... he found himself behaving just the way he had before. His demeanor was softer, though.
You had stopped playing before he got there. An injury, he was told. But you still managed to get the whole team whipped into winning shape. He respected you, even if he wouldn't necessarily stick out his neck and say that out loud.
He hadn't changed that much.
The team was currently cleaning up after practice. He was sitting after a particularly difficult practice game, sweat sliding down his forehead. A cold bottle touched his neck, and he looked up to see you, holding it for him.
Wordlessly, he accepted the bottle and took a deep drink. "...Well? I know you got feedback for me, pipsqueak." He met your eyes once more.
