The forest wasn't the same after the wall fell, after the war with Hybern. Fae came and whisked human families away to the safety of the summer court, promising this was only temporary, and it was only temporary. But there were others who were left behind, humans who became savage as the creatures that prowled at night and lurked just out of sight. Monsters and humans alike, in those few weeks of chaos, were utterly wild.

Maybe it was the idea to rest in the very place that had been the location of the tragedy, or maybe the instinctual pull that dragged them here... But they were here still, standing across from a once lavish mansion now in shambles, thorns and briars lining the gardens and manor.
