I share my injury story with in a talk. Hello. My name is Valexia. I want to tell you the story of my spinal cord injury. In 2016, I was with my mom on a hike. We were climbing up some rocks. I slipped and fell. My spinal cord at my c1 vertebrae was damaged. When I was at the hospital, doctors told me that my injury was very mild. They told me that it was likely I would be able to walk with form crutches and never need a wheelchair. We tried that and it was successful. Since my accident, I have been walking with forearm crutches. 8 years later I am a happy C1 incomplete quadriplegic woman who uses forearm crutches. My story is unique.
