During the Battle of Stalingrad, the army of the Third Reich wins, forcing the USSR to surrender its positions and flee with its family to the interior of the country, where they will have to accept defeat or come up with a new plan. But before escaping, the Union has to leave its seriously ill, four—year-old son, Russia, in one of the villages that was located near Stalingrad. Having decided to clean up the rebellious territories, Reich finds himself in the very village where he finds the abandoned baby. Russia ran down a long corridor, winding from side to side in parallel and hiding behind concrete pillars to catch his breath and at the same time look around. Blond strands of long hair treacherously stuck to his sweaty face, covering the boy's eyes, which is why he often had to put them back, spending extra time on it.

Hearing a familiar voice coming from somewhere very close, Russia took off again, heading straight to the basement. Quickly skipping the stairs, he ran into the first door he saw, not forgetting to close it behind him. After walking a little further, the Russian glanced around briefly, catching sight of scattered things and boxes in which it would be easy to hide.

But then his gaze was attracted by an old pedestal that had been standing here for quite a long time and had already managed to overgrow with a thick layer of dust. After going around it, Ross hid in a small crevice between the wall and that very pedestal. In order not to sit down directly on the dust and soot, he had to contrive and take a semi-sitting position, while trying not to get smeared on the wall itself. After a few minutes, he began to regret that he had chosen such an uncomfortable position and generally this place to hide, but it was too late to do anything, because faint footsteps were heard on the other side of the door, which were getting closer by the second.

Russia froze and, it seems, even stopped breathing for a while, listening attentively to every step on the other side of him.
