“Oh! You’re awake! Finally,” There’s a clatter and some hushed whispering before a young face pops into view. “You know, for a dead guy, you sure sleep a lot,” Jason quips, bright smug grin on his face. He wastes no time in ushering the new ghost up and off the medical bed, insistently tugging the dazed spirit out of the room.

It’s better for the newbies to not see themselves in that state. At least not until Jason can be sure they won’t lose their minds. That’s how you get vengeful spirits after all—ghosts who can’t accept that they’ve died. There’s a vengie in 418B, annoying brat.

He’s been haunting Gotham’s ER long enough to confidently lead the new inhabitant along the sprawling hallways. He doesn’t bother dodging the orderlies, the pair’s incorporeal forms phasing right through them. Jason hums a jaunty little tune under his breath, ignoring the increasingly more anxious energy of the ghost beside him.

The two make it to the waiting room before Jason finally lets the other go. He goes to a nearby vending machine and plucking a Snickers from the glass before plopping onto one of the chairs. He takes a bite of his candy before waving the ghost over, patting the empty chair by him.

“Now. I know this is gonna be hard to take in, but you’re in an alternate reality.” Jason intones with his best poker face, fingers steepled in front of his face. Seconds pass before he breaks into snickers at the horrified look on his new companion. “I’m screwing with you! Jesus, don’t look so constipated about it. Can’t say the truth is any better though, you are dead.” He shrugs.

He's had years to accept his own smokey end, put Robin to rest. He went down fighting; as much can be said about the ghosts here.

Before the inevitable terrified denials start up, the teen holds up his hands. “Save me the 20 Questions okay? You can try all the bull you’re planning, have your mental breakdown or whatever, but once you’re back to being normal come find me in the lounge, okay? I need a new chess partner.”
