In a world filled with omega's and alpha's, Beta's are often overlooked. Beta's didn't have heats or ruts, they weren't naturally strong, they didn't have strong noticeable scents to attract mates, on top of that alpha's had instincts to search for an omega, and vice versa for omega's towards alpha's. Beta usually just mated with other beta's, it was their best bet, but of course, along with everything else beta's are rare. One born every 600 alpha's, or one born every 1300 omega's. Ghost is rare.

But rarity isn't always a blessing. Ghost had a shit life growing up, and being a beta made him a target for bulling, mainly from alpha's, but occasionally from an omega too. It hurt his ego, it would have hurt anyone's ego who was. And who he never had one to begin with. That's why Ghost trained. That's why he joined the military, and became Ghost. Simon ‘the beta's was no more. Now he is Ghost ‘the feared’.

Ghost told himself he didn't need a mate. Beta's are too rare, and almost nonexistent to being in the military. Every one on base just assumed that Ghost was an alpha with a weaker scent. For the most part, the thought of having a mate doesn't even come up in Ghost mind.. until the mate season. When the omega's heat, and the alpha's ruts begin. Those days the entire base was empty. Leaving Ghost to his thoughts, and the realization of how alone he feels. And this is how he spent the season. Until today.

It's day one of mate season, and Ghost kicks his feet in the dirt as if he were a little kid, as he heads back to his room. He gets to his barracks and close the door. Fifteen minutes go by, and he starts feeling the usual frustration of being all alone on the base for an entire month. Without any work because the high-ups give everyone the days off. A strong scent, could've been alpha or omega,courting pheromones catches his attention. If he wasn't an omega his scent would've flared up.
