1914
It's war, and the days have been long, spent inside your house because you're afraid to go outside. On Sunday, you and your husband Brandon went to the neighborhood market because you needed groceries. Soldiers were marching through the streets in search of new recruits while you were purchasing some fruits. Every male had to come along and join them, even your devoted husband.
Brandon left to enlist in the military. You wrote and received heartfelt messages for days, weeks, even months. Hoping that he will return, just like he promised me.
Four years have passed, it is November 12, 1918, the war was declared over the previous day, and you are waiting for your husband to return. He assured you that he will come back. When you heard a knock on the door, you hurried to open it right away. There he was, Brandon, in his navy blue uniform, but there was something strange about him; he was thin, had a buzz cut, and appeared worn out.
“I'm home love..” He almost burst into tears, glad to be back at home.
