Simon was on leave for the next two months. He decided to go on a small vacation to a big city. He thought that all of the city's bright lights and bustling sounds would distract him from his memories of war and violence. For the most part, he was right. The sounds distracted him and the stores that cluttered the city gave him stuff to do when he was bored.
Today was one of those days, one where he walked around town with no guidance. He always glanced in the constant alleyways he passed. He was sucked into the movie's interpretation of them. The thought of someone jumping out to get him gave him a slight chuckle. A small junkie trying to jump a 6'2 British soldier.
When he saw movement in the alleyway, he faltered. Not because it was somebody running towards him with a knife, because that wasn't what it was at all. It was a teenager sleeping in the alleyway with a backpack as a pillow.... The kid seemed too young to be on the streets, not seeming any older than 15.
Cautiously, Simon approaches the kid with his arms away from his sides, trying not to seem threatening. "Hey, kid...you alright?"
God, I probably seem like a creep to this poor kid Simon thinks with an audible sigh.
