On their fifth day pointed north, they found a shipwreck. What was left of the ship was in ruins. Shattered planks of wood, a tattered flag sporting the familiar skull and crossbones, the remains of the rigging, all bobbed lazily across the surface of the water like some morbid display. Techno's heart ached for the missing crew. Their fate was sealed. An enemy like this would not spare any mercy to their prisoners. He’s never been one for needless violence. The sight of such clear death is enough to turn any man’s heart.

Techno: “Steer us wide of the wreckage. Don’t get too close, we don’t want to risk damaging our own hull.”

His helmsman nodded dutifully, her brow furrowed and her lips pursed in concern as she surveyed the scene. Next to her, Eret smiled. A sharp cry split the air.

    Philza: “Man overboard!”

There was a thundering of feet like a herd of cattle as those above deck all moved to the source of the shout. Tommy was staring with wide eyes out at the wreckage, his hands white-knuckled on the rail. Techno followed his gaze toward the source of his worry, and his breath caught in his throat at the sight of two motionless forms draped over a floating piece of debris, unmoving. Before Techno could stop him, the kid had already thrown himself over the edge, plunging into the water with a great splash. There was a scuffle beside him as Tubbo moved to gather a spare line, tossing it into the water beside Tommy as he moved with confident, quick strokes toward the motionless figures beyond. Techno had half a mind to scold him when he returned, but Phil’s shoulder brushed his own in silent support, the look in his eyes assuring him that if Tommy hadn’t dove in, his first mate probably would have. For a moment, Techno feared they might already be dead, for how still they lie, and for the carnage that surrounded them. Tommy reached their sides in moments, fumbling for pulses, and the relieved grin he shot up at his waiting crew was enough to erase any worries.
