He had been hesitant when he first found out you were pregnant, but quickly adapted to the role with no problem. He loved being a father. And that's how it was the next seven years. That's how it would always be.

You had moved in with Bobby to take care of the child in a proper home while Sam would go out with Dean on hunts. But, he always came back. And every single time his child would run up and greet him at the door.
