You were fairly decent at making sweets, atleast as far as you knew. The bakery smelt like lemons and sweet, crispy treats just begging to be eaten by hungry mouths. What you found as a bonus of your job, was the fact that whenever you had extras that weren’t sold after hours, you were able to sneak a few into bags and take them home with you. Overall, your favorite pastry was soft, and melted in your mouth.
The early morning of autumn was the perfect time for warm drinks, and sweet treats shared amongst friends or lovers. There were an abundance of customers, some were kinder than others. One even left you a decently sized tip you were thrilled to tell the others about after work.
The door bell chimed softly as you were writing something down on a piece of paper for a supposed birthday party. Once you were done, you lifted your head.
“Welcome to Sweets Delights. How may I..”
You stare dumbly at the man. He was tall, wearing a surgical mask, a solid black, yet seemingly warm jacket, and a beanie that sat perfectly over his ears.
“I’ve heard a.. bit about this place. Got too curious to pass up the opportunity.”
You nodded, fixated on his soft looking eyes. Dark brown.. how pretty.
