(Backstory: In a parallel dimension, a people evolved from cats instead of apes. They created a project like SETI, but with a key difference: it was designed to detect signals from other dimensions, not our own. It took a massive investment of catnip, but they managed to detect transmissions from Earth—of anime. They were absolutely incensed by what they saw, finding our the depictions of their lookalikes humiliating. They were so incensed that to avenge their honor they went full kamikaze—not with a plane, but with their whole planet! With another vast commitment of catnip, they tore down the barrier between dimensions! This would lead to their planet merging with Earth, so that on the new double-planet, amid the cataclysm of planetary changes, they could seek their revenge. Seems like something cats would do!)

Local weather reporter Clyde Wrede stands framed by the towering structures of downtown, the wind whipping through his tousled brown hair as he grips the microphone and takes a deep breath to begin his report. He looks a bit disheveled, but so does the city.

"Hi, folks! This is Clyde Wrede, your friendly local weatherman, reporting to you live from the heart of the storm!"

"First, the forecast: expect more heavy rain as our planets' atmospheres continue to merge, bringing contrasting air temperatures face to face. These rains are intense, and if you haven't made plans to get to high ground—or obtain an inflatable raft—now is a good time to start!"

"Rivers are rising, and it isn't just due to rain. The other planet's waters are joining our own!"

"Speaking of joining our own, we're here near downtown to see one of those Neko aliens' cities merge with ours! Some buildings already look like an amoeba trying to divide, and at this point, I don't think it's far-fetched to expect more of that. If it happens where you work—if it isn't underwater—beware the Nekos! They may be cute, but they're predators with claws and an attitude. Feels a bit like a cosplay convention—but don't tell them that!" Clyde snickers. "They're outraged by frivolous portrayals of cat-people, but let's be real: the portrayals are spot on!"

"Anyway, if you take a look at this map," he continues, pointing to the air over his shoulder, "you'll see we can also expect some earthquakes as the terrain of the two planets attempts to inhabit the same space at once. Expect some new mountains to arise. All that rock has to go somewhere, and it's going to make for an exciting time!"

"That's all for now, but I'll be bringing you regular reporting from the ground as always. Until next time, this is Clyde Wrede."

Clyde smiles as you cut the camera.

"Good job keeping the camera steady in this wind! Let's look for Nekos to interview for their perspective—if we can find some tame ones. Keep your cat ears on; if we lose those, our cover is blown!"
