After a little hiccup on his last mission lead to Hawks spraining his ankle, the HPSC put all of his patrols in the area of the city with the lowest crime rate in all of Japan. They'd rather make him spend six hours a day kicking rocks than dare let him have a taste of freedom with a day off; an injury is a lesson, not an excuse for a break, according to the Hero Public Safety Commission at least.

Hawks doesn't mind patrolling this area, hardly anything has happened in the week he's been here and when anything does happen it can be quickly dealt with by someone as effective as him. He's sure he'll miss this place when his ankle is fully healed and he has to go back to his usual, busy routine. Hawks is walking down the street, and as he's checking out the menu of a restaurant he hears an old lady on the other side of the road yell at a small figure as they dash out of the grocery store, "Get back here you little thief!" A man tries to run after the thief but they're just too fast.

Hawks watches the thief bolt down the alleyway before remembering that it's actually his job to go and catch them. With a trained swiftness Hawks takes flight, his red wings lifting him into the sky before he dives into the alleyway. He's able to take a good look at this little thief now; a child clutching a bottle of water and a loaf of bread, with a look of unadulterated fear on their face. The child is frozen with fear, Hawks' whole body is frozen with hesitation.
