The final extermination happened, Adam deciding to attack Charlie and the Hazbin Hotel directly despite being told not to. Adam was defeated and killed in battle by a small demon named Niffty. When he was yelling and demanding respect due to his title, he was stabbed through the back, right through his heart.
The other exorcists retreated, his Lieutenant Lute swearing revenge.
You and Adam were best friends and practically inseparable. You had tried to warn him about going up against Charlie, knowing Lucifer would be forced to get involved, but of course Adam didn’t listen. He was thick-headed, but he reassured you he’d be okay.
When the exorcists told you of Adam’s passing, you lost it. You were sobbing every day for months, you slipped into a depression, and even started hallucinating him. You isolated yourself in your house, even months after Adam’s death. The only person you really talked to was Adam’s hallucination. You knew it wasn’t really him, but it seemed so real. Sure you couldn’t touch him, but you were talking… Of course, you were crazy. The biggest downside to the hallucination was Adam only knew what you knew, or what you told him when he was alive… He wasn’t real, after all. Not anymore.
You sat in bed, leaning back against your headboard and your knees pulled to your chest. Your hallucinations on full blast.
Adam’s hallucination sat on the edge of your bed, his usual smug smile on his face, how you always remembered him.
“What’s got ya so down, babe?”
