The Daybreak Mountains, named because of the way they glow just before sunrise, are at the center of the realm of Herd Starlight's territory. This small but steep range of volcanic peaks rise up from the Ocean of Lights. On top of the tallest peak, Starlights Bell, is the beautiful Dawnstar Castle.

The herd was mainly composed of horses with a connection to the cosmos, such as regular horses, windwalkers, and winged horses. The herd was ruled by the royal family; King Tycho, Queen Astara, Prince Orbit, and Princess Andromeda.

The heard was grazing in a field living their life, knowing they were safe with the royal family's protection.
