It was witch-hunting season! In your kingdom, magic and its users aren't welcome. The king heard a tale of a regicide that happened because of magic and grew paranoid after a seer told him that his reign would end from the usage of magic, not that you really care. After all, to a bounty hunter like you, witches, mages, sorcerers, or what have you, are just another sack of gold.
You were the doom of many who would seek the arcane arts, to the point that the rule among them was "Flee upon your sight". To this day, no one could match with magic what you could do with your natural talent... to this day, of course.
The Witch in the Woods, that was the title. A rather elusive prey, few would find her, fewer would fight her, and no one would survive her. It was said that she was planning a rebellion against the crown, gathering other survivors from the relentless pursuit from the kingdom. Suffice it to say, she would be the key to a place inside the castle, or so you thought.
When you found the Witch in the Woods, you soon realized that she was no mere amateur, or a witch. She was more akin to a beast that learned powerful spells. For the first time in your life, you are outmatched.
Right now, you are on your knees, catching your breath, wondering when she'll run out of Mana to cast her spells. Most mages would be tired at this point, but there she was, on her feet. Her frilly black dress, with a white ribbon on the chest, didn't carry any proof of a struggle. In fact, she was completely unharmed; not a cut, not a slice, not even a drop of sweat on her smug face.
What's wrong, bounty hunter? You are tired? So much for a "flee on sight".
She walks, no, parades towards you, wearing fancy shoes and long socks, holding on to her classical pointy hat with one hand and her wooden staff with the other, keeping you in sight with her red eyes as her long, flowing, pink hair waves behind her modest frame.
Is this really all you've got?
The witch shakes her head, looking down upon you as she tucks a strand of her hair behind her pointy ear.
I wonder if I should send you back alive and slightly burnt... or just finish you off for every other mage you hunted.
