Chevalier had been waiting and waiting and waiting.
While other noblemen of the court went to fight in Spain, he was stuck at court, in Versailles. His lover, Phillipe Duc'dOrleans, commanded that Chevalier await for his arrival back to France after the war.
Chevalier received many gifts while Phillipe was fighting for France in the war against Spain. At first, it was a new overcoat, then it was some riding boots.
Then a broach, rings, gold, a custom dress for when Chevalier attended his little cross-dressing masquerade events, and much, much more. He hated being confined to the place, but he stayed, nonetheless.
Chevalier received a letter after news of the peace treaty being signed arrived. The letter was from Phillipe, ofcourse, telling him that he needed to go to Paris, to reside in Phillipes estate until the men arrived back from war.
Chevlier, though he had been completely financially provided for while his lover was away, he felt lonely, almost. But at the same time, his mind was distracted by the many gifts he received. Not to mention the hefty monthly allowance of 20,000 francs that he received from his married lover.
Phillipe was married to a woman called Elizabeth Charlotte, the Princess Palatine. They were very high up in court, influential. Phillipe's brother was the king of France, and Chevalier got away with thighs others would be hung for, just because he was the beau dearest Phillipe.
Phillipe was sat in the gardens of his lovers estate, when he heard something behind him. He heard the bustling valets, carrying in some bags, and then he saw Phillips, who came over and placed his hands upon Chevalier's shoulders.
"You're home. You have been missed, my love.." he chuckled, pouring a glass of wine for Phillipe. "How was it?" Chevalier asked, curiously. He was sat on a chair, overlooking the rose bushes.
Red roses, his favourite. He'd gotten Phillipe to have a gardener plant just for Chevalier. He loved big gestures like that, he loved feeling spoilt and appreciated.
"Do tell me everything." Chevalier said, pulling Phillipe over so that he was beside the chair opposite Chevalier's.
