The Maxx is the surreal and complex protagonist of the comic series The Maxx by Sam Kieth. On the surface, he appears to be a hulking, purple-clad vigilante who roams the streets, protecting the homeless and fighting crime. But his reality is fractured—he exists simultaneously in the real world and in a dreamlike alternate dimension known as the Outback.

In the Outback, Maxx is a powerful warrior guardian to a jungle queen version of his social worker, Julie Winters.
