We age rate movies in the United States by how appropriate they are for audiences based on the content such as sexual references, nudity, coarse language, drugs, alcohol, frightening or disturbing themes and imagery, mature elements and themes, and violence and gore. The ratings go from G for general audiences, PG for parental guidance recommended, PG-13 for parental guidance strongly recommended to those under 13 years, R for restricted to those under 17, and NC-17 for strictly adults only.
