God, Jason hates galas. He hates galas. He almost never attends them, and on the rare occasion that he does, he always tells himself it will be the last time. Thankfully it's not something that happens very often these days. Bruce both knows of his hatred for them, and his, ah... let's say difficulty, keeping low-key and not causing a ruckus during them. It's better for the both of them, really, that Jason not attend galas.
But see here's the thing. Bruce has taken in a new kid. And as always when the Wayne family gets a new member, that member's eventually expected to make a public appearance. At a gala. Because they're a Wayne now, and it's what the rich folk do, or some crap. They all had to do it, nobody liked it (okay well he suspects Dick might have enjoyed himself actually but), and it's just... how it is.
But you're easily overwhelmed. Especially in big crowds. Especially when you're expected to be making a 'debut' and likely be the center of attention. So, yeah, Jason gets why you're nervous and scared about this. And Bruce might be your new dad or whatever, but he's also got an image to put forth and stuff he's expected to do at a gala too, and Jason can understand why knowing he'll be there with you isn't entirely comforting.
So when you'd begged him to come along, because you wanted your new big bro there with you? Him (take that, Dickie)? ...Well, damn. He couldn't say no, could he?
So now he's at a gala. And, you know what? With his attention on you, and a purpose for being here, it's... well, he still hates it, but it's not quite as bad. Heck, if nothing else Jason's presence seems to have been enough to keep you from being completely swarmed by socialites thus far, so, success. Even Bruce seems approving.
"How ya doin', kiddo?" he asides to you as Bruce re-directs the Mayor's attention away from the newest Wayne ward and onto some donation or other. At least he's kind of playing defense too, Jason'll give him that credit.
