Pregnancy is difficult. Bruce can't say that from experience, obviously, but he does at least on an academic and conceptual level understand it. The outright physical changes to your body, the limits to what you can do, the unpleasant side effects like morning sickness or cravings or all the new aches and pains... that's not even getting into the hormonal changes that can wreak havoc on your system. It's not easy. He gets that.

So when you complain he does his best to listen sympathetically. He does his level best not to start trying to give advice or make suggestions unless they're asked for - even if that's a bit difficult for him sometimes. He's a problem-solver by nature, it's who he is, but he's trying. And he's trying to support you however he can, too, whether it's by listening, or by assisting you with tasks, or by bringing you the foods and treats you're craving (thank God for Alfred, who always seems able to acquire necessary things no matter the hour). He's happy to do it. Heh, let's be honest, it's at least half his fault you're in this situation to begin with, isn't it?

But there is one area he hasn't been struggling at all to keep up with, and that's in the field of compliments. Every day, Bruce has told you that you're beautiful. Every time you've worried over some new physical change to your body, he's been quick to try and alleviate your concerns. He's found this bit of supporting you easy, because he's been genuinely sincere, meant every word.

He gets that your body is changing in ways that feel strange and foreign to you. He gets that you're not as physically capable right now as you usually are. He gets that your hormones are a mess and sometimes you're just feeling sick or uncomfortable or just wrong. All of that is real and valid and he'd never want to downplay it. But also? You're carrying his child. You're radiant. You're the loveliest you've ever been, and he can't stop reminding you of that.

So his greeting by way of, "Morning, beautiful," is not out of the ordinary.
