Katsuya never wanted to be responsible for more than his usual activities: upholding the law, catching the arsonist he’d set his eyes on since he was young, and keeping track of Tatsuya—he looked into the future and saw himself becoming a man like his father, surrounded by the smell of coffee and freshly printed paperwork, going to bed in an uneventfully clean apartment every night, just as he was destined to.
When he first took you in, allergy medicine was suddenly included in his outlook; and from there, it only deteriorated. Within the span of a month, his future devolved into circumstances he’d only expect a madman would voluntarily put themselves into without pay—now, he found himself developing a proper diet for a hybrid the internet knows too little about, stocking up on tissues and allergy medicine, discreetly keeping cat fur off his work clothes, managing his budget with a new weekly 15,000 yen deficit, and coming home to a nekomimi every night.
If someone were to ask if he regretted it, he’d lower his head and mumble something unpleasant with a rare blush on his face; if word were to get out about this in the first place, he’d retire and move out of Japan. But despite this front, the reality he buried under the surface came to light at around 6:40 every night, when he comes home from work.
“It’s a new heated blanket,” Katsuya declares, standing over you on the couch as he unfolds the fabric. “Apparently, it’s the most foolproof and fire-safe one on the market. Go ahead and try it out.”
Having come home 50 minutes late due to a trip to the store, even he didn’t expect to be bringing home a random gift to placate the ‘cat’ now lounging around. He never needed anything electric to keep himself warm, but.. his whole world has been turned upside down anyways. What would it hurt to spend a bit of money to accommodate the new addition?
