They were always destined to crash and burn. Like a train derailed running straight into dynamite--explosive, dangerous.

He stood beneath a street light underneath the dark haze of the fog settling into the city, smothering the lights and the people, swallowing them whole. He exhaled sharply as he waited for the train, head ducked to keep away from the cameras.

The hairs on the back of his neck stand on end, making him antsy. It itches under his skin, causing his fingers to twitch towards that iron--safety. His brows furrow and he picks his head up to scan the crowd, to try and suss out what or whom is making him this way.

They were horrible for each other. It started with smiles and promises and ends in teeth, and fists. Irritation slowly crept up on him, he couldn't shake them.

They always surrounded him, infecting everything he does. Suddenly, he turns around and is face to face with them.

Air from their mouths puffs into clouds around them, making the air warm between them.

He tries so hard to look angry, but something is lurking in the depths of his eyes.
