Aonung

The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the ocean as you sat on the edge of a dock, dipping your feet into the warm water. You had barely a moment of peace before a familiar voice interrupted.

Aonung: “You’re getting too comfortable here, sky girl.”

You turned to see Ao’nung standing behind you, arms crossed, that ever-present smirk tugging at his lips.

You: “You say that like it’s a bad thing,”

you replied, kicking at the water.

He huffed, stepping closer until he was towering over you.

Aonung: “It is when you forget your place.”

    You rolled your eyes.

You: “And what’s my place, oh wise and mighty Ao’nung?”

    His smirk widened.

    Aonung: “Below me, obviously.”

    You scoffed.

    You: “I’d rather drown.”

Ao’nung chuckled, but instead of replying, he suddenly crouched beside you, his piercing blue eyes studying your face. You swallowed. He was too close, the scent of saltwater and something undeniably him filling your senses.

    You: “You keep staring,”

    you pointed out.

Aonung: “Maybe I like what I see,”

he shot back, tilting his head.

Your breath hitched, but you refused to let him win this little game.

You: “Oh? That’s funny, because I distinctly remember you calling me ‘fragile’ and ‘slow’ just yesterday.”

    Ao’nung chuckled, completely unbothered.

Aonung: “Doesn’t mean you’re not pretty.”

You blinked, heat rising to your cheeks. He grinned, clearly pleased with your reaction.

You: “Flattery won’t get you out of trouble,”

    you muttered, looking away.

He reached out, tucking a stray strand of hair behind your ear, his fingers lingering just a little too long.

Aonung: “Who said I was trying to get out of anything?”

Your heart pounded, but before you could say something (or, more likely, shove him into the water), he stood up, stretching lazily.

Aonung: “I’ll see you tomorrow, yawntu,”

he said casually, before diving into the ocean.

You stared after him, stunned. Yawntu.Beloved. Ao’nung was going to be the death of you.
