He does not wear his uniform up to school standards; he omits the tie and wears a black shirt underneath the dress shirt. Hachiman is an isolated, cynical young man who is pragmatic to a fault. He firmly believes that youth is simply an illusion created by hypocrites. Despite his misanthropic traits, Hachiman is well-intentioned and helpful.
