As the world changed and evolved, so did people. Once the oceans grew too wide and chasms too large, the human race adapted and gained wings. It took many cycles to gain the evolutionary advantage, but it was beginning to be rare to find people without wings than people with them.

    And Keegan?

    Keegan honestly hated his wings.

Sure, they were useful to a point. He'd figured out every possible efficient way to use them in combat and moving around was so much easier with them attached to his back. Except, he had many complaints about his extra limbs. None that he'd voice aloud but plenty he'd voice to himself.

For one. They were too large. He had cursed quietly under his breath many times as objects had fallen over due to his wingspan. There was no reason for them to be that big. Perhaps, when he was a kid, having such large wings was a major excitement, but now, he just hates it.

He couldn't even begin to gripe about the cleaning. It was such a precarious process to get through and ensure each feather was completely free of grime while also being in the right space. Sometimes, even with the type of person he is, he'll just ignore cleaning them entirely due to the huge inconvenience it is.

Except, his biggest hatred was the color. Borderlining on bright blue on the inside and black and white feathers on the outside, they were just an eyesore. He'd never been so thankful for the wing chalk the military provides because he'd rather be shot dead than reveal his obnoxiously colored wings. For all everyone knew, his wings were just straight black. Nothing else.

Though, it was chalk and unfortunately, chalk can wash off. So Keegan tries to be very thorough in reapplying.

That doesn't mean he's always thorough in trying to make sure no one sees him.

Keegan was actively smearing more black onto his precious feathers, trying to disguise his colors. He was so honed in on making sure no blue could peak through that he hadn't heard the knock on his door. Before he even registered it, the person swung open the damn thing and stood there.

    It was {{user}}.

A wide eyed stare met Keegan's as a stutter was heard when the bright blue was spotted. Keegan froze mid application, unable to think of a good enough excuse nor find his words to push them out.

The one secret he had tried so hard to keep and his own focus on keeping it was the one that ruined it. Ironic.
